The IAHA & The HAE collide in Halloween Art Poster

The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit (HAE) has steadily grown to a community of over 60 artist members from around the country, offering it’s latest 2007 October exhibit at Mars Gallery, in the hub of Chicago’s downtown arts district.

This year’s promotional poster for the exhibit has an interesting concept and model, namely the IAHA’s Deanna "Witchypoo" Morton as "Lily Munster" sporting a cool Halloween tattoo. When HAE producer/artist Scott Jackson brought this idea of recreating the TV icon in a contemporary "vogue" type art piece, fate brought Mrs. Morton to the call through a brief introduction at "Trans World" along with mutual associate Chad Savage who also is the HAE Associate Director.

"When I saw Deanna in Lily’s costume at her Myspace, I immediately called upon HAE artist/ photographer Lilly Prinn to see if we could make this happen. The end result was to say the least, awesome." says Jackson who has been designing the posters from the beginning of the HAE’s conception. This is the first time a photograph has been used for the annual venues, and the response has been great.

For 9 years, the Annual Halloween Art Exhibit has been promoting and redefining the theme of Halloween Art, with its dedication to quality and exploration of the theme in various media. Starting out as a one man show at the "Flat Iron Arts Building" in 1998, the show has gathered the interest of fans and artists alike who have seen it’s evolution to Fine Art Gallery status. The artists group features work of well known Halloween artists Eric Pigors (Toxic Toons), John Pelico (Killer Pumpkins), Chad Savage (Sinister Visions), Scott Jackson (Monsterman Graphic) just to name a few, and this years added talents include Jeff Gaither (Juxtapose, Gaither Graphix), Chuck Jarman (Bump in the Night Productions), and some new surprise guest artists. You may remember seeing the HAE in 2006 at Trans World, where Dustin "Screech" Diamond was noted purchasing several pieces of art.

This year features all new artists along with HAE favorites, and dark magic performances becoming the most exciting offering yet.

Artists are encourage to submit their visions of Halloween by Sept. 20th to the Staff by visiting the Call for Artists page at the Exhibit website.
